DIVERSITYThe presence of differences that may include race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, language, (dis)ability, age, religious commitment, or political perspective, and in particular, the inclusion of those populations that have been, and remain, underrepresented in the legal profession or marginalized in society as a whole. |
EQUITYPromoting justice, impartiality and fairness within the procedures, processes, and distribution of resources by our firms. |
INCLUSIONEnsuring those that are diverse feel and are welcomed. Inclusion exists when we, our firms, and our culture are truly inviting to all, and when diverse individuals are able to participate in the decision-making processes and development opportunities within the Codilis Family of Firms. |
In addition to its long standing policies against discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, the firms have adopted a formal policy committing to DEI principles, appointed a diversity officer to oversee a comprehensive DEI Program, and is the process of creating a DEI Committee which will provide a forum for the Codilis Team to share their thoughts about firm culture, provide feedback and suggestions concerning firm policies and practices when viewed through the DEI lens, and serve as an agent of positive change for firm culture. |
We believe it is not enough to be “color blind” and to just not consider diversity factors when making important decisions. Instead, we must actively embrace different views and cultures and make them a welcome part of a stronger, more diverse enterprise. We must educate our leadership and staff to combat unconscious bias and build safeguards into our practices to ensure that DEI principles are followed in practice and not just in word. |
